Summary

Child Care Aware� of Missouri (CCAMO) is an intermediary nonprofit who stewards mostly public dollars and is seeking opportunities to diversify funding. We are hiring a grant writer with a passion for serving others while building relationships and rapport with donors and funders on the federal, state, and local levels to support the early care and education industry. Candidates most likely drawn to this position will enjoy working with a program manager team to assist our 25-year-old nonprofit organization in reaching its maximum potential by writing for and securing grants and donations that further our mission. This position is best suited for someone who has a passion for grant writing, is detail oriented, solutions-driven and not averse to change and challenge, open to working individually and with a team, and willing to learn about our work and culture. A background in grant writing, success in receiving grant awards, and donor relationship building and giving are essential. This position is based in our Creve Coeur office and may go hybrid after the 90-day probation period.

Duties

Responsibilities: Responsible for contributing to and implementing fund development strategies to attract donors, convert donors, and help CCAMO secure grants and donations to fulfill our mission and strategic priorities. The Director of Development works closely with all staff to learn about the organization, finds opportunities that align with CCAMO, and collaborates to pursue funding. This position reports directly to the Chief Business Officer.

Duties and responsibilities include :
Grant Proposal Development, Writing, and Submission (75%)
  • Lead and coordinate the mining of, research, writing, and submission of grant proposals to potential federal, state, local, and foundation funders to secure resources for initiatives that support the organization?s strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with chiefs, directors, and staff to gather necessary information for Letters of Intent (LOI) and grant proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Write and submit high-quality LOIs and grant proposals, clearly communicating CCAMO?s mission, programs, needs, proposed outcomes, and sustainability plans.
  • Track and manage grant proposal submission requirements, renewals and/or deadlines, and/or additional opportunities to apply for funding while maintaining detailed records of all grant-related activities.
  • Adhere to metrics and goals established for grant writing in partnership with the Chief Business Officer
 
Fundraising and Donor Management (15%)
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive donor fundraising plan with metrics and reporting that aligns with CCAMO?s strategic and financial goals.
  • Explore and secure innovative opportunities resulting in increased corporate and/or individual donations.
  • Identify donor match opportunities and/or other opportunities to increase giving options and opportunities.
  • Leverage existing partnerships and relationships to identify potential donors, while cultivating new connections with key stakeholders including public and private investors, to support fundraising efforts.
  • Plan and execute 1-2 special fundraising events annually
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices for donor management and fundraising strategies for nonprofit organizations.
  • Continuously seek new opportunities to improve fundraising efforts and enhance the organization?s visibility in the community.
 
Communications & Reporting (10%)
  • Prepare and present regular reports on progress toward fundraising goals, analyzing fundraising data to adjust strategies as needed.
  • Generate and distribute donor communications such as newsletters and the annual report to maintain engagement, show appreciation, and how their gift made a difference including use of testimonials gathered by staff.
  • Assist in the creation of print, digital, and social media content to support fundraising campaigns.

Requirements

Staff Competencies/Qualities:

  • Bachelor?s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management or a related field.
  • Three to five years of proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, and donor engagement.
  • A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is preferred.
  • Experience with non-profit organizations and knowledge of early care, education systems, and services is preferred.
  • Proven record of securing grants and meeting fundraising goals, with a successful portfolio in grant writing for foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities and fundraising data.
  • Advanced writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive LOIs, proposals and reports. Experience and knowledge of nonprofit goals, structure, and best practices in fundraising and grant writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, grant management databases, donor management systems, and CRM software
  • Strong organizational skills, including project management, time management, and attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populations and build relationships in program and outreach settings.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with donors, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically, make data-driven decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Energetic and team-oriented, demonstrating a positive attitude, and modeling organizational values and beliefs.
  • Engage in the organization?s fundraising and friend-raising activities.
  • Deep commitment to the organization?s mission, values, and goals, with a passion for making a positive impact in the community.
