SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
JOB SUMMARY The Senior Accountant will perform general ledger accounting responsibilities and oversee clerical accounting tasks toensure accurate and timely cost reporting. The Senior Accountant should be highly organized and detail-oriented, withoutstanding analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities. The Senior Accountant will have exposure to all aspects of the accounting and finances functions within the company and will also interface with other departments including project management and operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- MUST have experience servicing construction clients AND/OR experience working in the construction industry.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes to include: posting journal entries, performing various account reconciliations and tracking prepaid expenses and accruals.
- Create accurate and timely financial statements for review by senior accounting team and management
- Maintain fixed asset subledger by recording entries related to purchases, dispositions, gains/losses, and depreciation.
- Support the annual external financial statement audit by gathering documents and preparing supporting schedules.
- Assist with various tax preparations and filings to include: Sales tax, Income tax, 1099 reporting, and Personal Property tax.
- Perform monthly variance analysis to identify fluctuations and any unusual transactions
- Assist with the formulation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts including the preparation of various reports and other key inputs.
- Assist with annual insurance policy renewals by gathering relevant documents and completing applications.
- Support other accounting team members by becoming cross trained for a variety of duties.
- Special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2+ years’ business, accounting and/or financial experience.
- CPA license is preferred, but not required.
- Experience using financial computer software and applications, experience with Proven Solutions accounting software is a plus.
- Construction and/or insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Must have excellent analytical skills and a sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient to high-level ability in Excel.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as evidenced through positive communications: in person, on the phone or by email.
- Ability to collaborate with multi department teams.
- Well-organized with the ability to multi- task.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
