Job Opportunity: Accountant II or Senior Accountant

This is a newly created position, approved as part of the 2025 budget process, giving the selected candidate a unique opportunity to shape and enhance our financial operations. In this role, you'll work across various accounting functions, including budgeting, audits, general ledger accounting, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and financial planning.
### Key Responsibilities
#### Accountant II:
- Prepare and complete month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with the annual audit and budget preparation.
- Reconcile accounts and support financial reporting.
- Provide data for the development of utility rate structures.
- Manage grant administration, including reimbursement claims.
- Maintain and implement fixed asset control records.
- Review invoices for proper expense distribution and approvals.
- Assist in improving and implementing accounting procedures and systems.
#### Senior Accountant:
- Lead and provide direction to accounting support staff, ensuring accuracy in financial records.
- Oversee complex budget and reporting systems, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Direct the monthly closing of the general ledger.
- Support and lead the accounting team through the annual audit process.
- Evaluate, refine, and implement financial systems, processes, and procedures.
- Conduct research and analysis for the development of utility rate structures.
- Assist in preparing and managing the annual budget.
- Review department expenses and ensure proper approvals.
- Maintain subsidiary accounts receivable and manage collections.
- Oversee fixed asset control records and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist in developing and documenting financial procedures for various departments.

- Accountant II: Ideal for professionals with foundational accounting experience, eager to grow their skills in financial reporting, auditing, budgeting, and compliance.
- Senior Accountant: Best suited for candidates with advanced accounting expertise, leadership skills, and experience handling complex financial processes, audits, and process improvements.
### Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $89,200 - $130,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
